Location: 1601 NASA Road 1, Houston
Space Center Houston is the official visitors center for Johnson Space Center in
Houston. Johnson Space Center is famous for being NASA’s headquarters for astronaut
training and Mission Control and has many exciting things to see and do.
Explore the areas of NASA that the astronauts see when you take an exclusive Level
9 tour, and even eat in the astronaut cafeteria! Kids will love the “Kids Space
Place,” an area full of interactive exhibits that let them get an idea of what being
an astronaut is like. They can command the space shuttle or pretend they are living
on the space station. Watch a film about the challenges of training and becoming
an astronaut on the Mazda Giant Screen Theater, or experience a virtual, interactive
tour of the massive International Space Station.
The Starship Gallery is where you can see actual space vehicles such as the Mercury
capsule, the Apollo 17 command module, a lunar rover, and the Gemini spacecraft.
Don’t miss the Mission Status Center, where you can get live updates on actual missions
in progress. Space Center Houston is truly out of this world, and a great opportunity
for visitors to learn more about the United States’ space program. |
