Location: 1500 Binz, Houston

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston houses one of the finest permanent art collections in the United States, thanks to its long list of benefactors. The museum’s main campus includes two different museum buildings, a free sculpture garden, and the Glassell School of Art. The older of the two buildings, the Caroline Wiess Law Building, is one of only two museums in the world designed by renowned architect Mies van der Rohe. It houses most of the museum’s 20th and 21st-century artworks as well as some amazing art from around the world and the largest collection of gold objects in the world.

Across the street, the Audrey Jones Beck Building, designed by Rafael Moneo, is illuminated by specially designed rooftop “lanterns."" They fill the space with natural light key to appreciating the color and richness of the artworks.

The European art and classical antiquities are housed here, along with any traveling exhibitions. Notable works that belong to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston’s permanent collection include Picasso’s Two Women in front of a Window, paintings by Degas, Manet, Renoir, Matisse, Monet, Seurat, and many other important works from each major time period.
