Location: Intersection of Fannin and Hermann Drive
Hermann Park is one of Houston’s oldest and most celebrated public parks. Situated in the heart of Houston near the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District, and Rice University, the park offers many pleasant ways to spend an afternoon.
Miller Outdoor Theatre and the Houston Zoo are technically a part of the park, as well as Hermann Golf Course, one of the best public golf courses anywhere. There have been extensive renovations and restoration efforts over the past few years, including the expansion of Lake McGovern.
Now you can watch the ducks and swans float by as you go for a peaceful paddleboat ride or sit on Bob’s Fishing Pier. Seniors and kids under 12 are welcome to practice their catch-and-release skills.
Visit the stunningly beautiful and peaceful Japanese Garden, fall in love with it, and arrange a tour or tea ceremony for your next visit. Meditate by the awe-inspiring Reflecting Pool that is 740 feet long and 80 feet wide.
For the kids, there is a miniature train ride that is a Houston family tradition, as well as the “Playground for All Children” that is accessible to the physically disabled. Oh, and don’t forget—Hermann Park is great for kite flying!
