Location: Downtown Houston, City Hall area, Tranquility and Sam Houston Parks
Houston’s Children’s Festival promises a world of delights over the course of a spring weekend. You and your kids will love the festive atmosphere here, and all to benefit a good cause, Child Advocates, Inc. Get everyone together and set out for a fun journey that includes Hi Ho Silver, the world-famous miniature trained pony and seven stages of music and entertainment.
The hardest thing will be choosing from among the more than 350 fun activities the festival has in store for your family. Try out the story time or the singing time on the Read, Write and Connect stage or the Safety on Wheels zone, designed to teach safety through an interactive miniature-sized town. Circustown will be a big favorite for kids of any age and the Kid Zone gets you up close and personal with some slithering snakes.
That’s just the beginning of the enjoyable options this all-about-kids weekend offers. Try out some playdough art, prize fishing, mazes and sandboxes. Get fit at the Family Fitness zone, where you can jump rope, kick box and dance the calories away.
Pan for gold or take a mechanical bull ride in the American barnyard and for sure take part in the scholarship treasure hunt. The list goes on and on, so let’s just say that the Houston Children’s Festival is one for the whole family for the whole weekend, and whatever you do, remember to take the camera for some great candid shots.
