Location: Tinsley Park at Buffalo Bayou
Houston’s Freedom Over Texas Fireworks celebration is set to go off with a bang, and in true Texas style, it’s big, big, big. Gather up the gang and head to Tinsley Park for this July Fourth extravaganza as the city says happy birthday to the nation in a dynamic, family-friendly way. Your kids will surely love the fireworks that begin at 9:30 pm, but get there early for all the other great activities you can enjoy. Los Lonely Boys, a trio of native Texas brothers, will be on hand to get the crowd ramped up and ready. Then, the biggest moment, as patriotic songs and other musical genres play in the background, comes the nation’s largest land-based fireworks show. Other special treats include local music on four different stages and will include pop, Latin, country and classic rock.
See NASCAR vehicles, meet Benjamin Franklin and visit military displays. Kids will love the rides and games in their special section of the venue. Make the beer garden your home base and enjoy a championship volleyball match prior to the concert.
Lots of beverages and foods are available so you can enjoy a picnic for supper before the sky darkens and is then spectacularly lit, to the awe of little ones everywhere—and a few big ones, too.
