Kid-friendly hotels are a necessity for parents who travel with their kids – of any age. Most hotels are able to provide cribs if arrangements are made at the time reservations are made and many hotel restaurants offer a children’s menu, but many more hotels have gone the extra mile to make sure younger travelers are not only safe and comfortable but also well-entertained while mom and dad enjoy other activities.
Some hotels offer to child-proof rooms before your arrival – if you request the service. This means covering electrical outlets, moving cords out of the way and eliminating other elements that could be hazardous to little ones.
Hotels in popular destinations – like Orlando or Las Vegas – go the extra mile with kid-focused entertainment, including puppet shows and games, costumed characters, dazzling light displays and kiddie play pools or water parks adjacent to the property. Kid-sized terry robes, elaborate playscapes, video and board game libraries, special kid suites and rooms with bunk beds as well as passes to local venues are also popular.
But, the feature many parents look for are supervised activities for kids from pre-school to early teens. These activities – much like summer camp – can range from snorkeling lessons and outings to boogie-boarding, fun tours and crafts to keep the kids entertained while their parents attend meetings or see the sights.
