It’s Mardi Gras in all its purple, green and gold splendor, complete with parades, doubloons and miles and miles of glittering beads. It’s been a wonderful tradition on Galveston Island for years and this year, it toasts the spirit and the people of the Gulf Coast.
Join in this rollicking celebration of music, food, dancing and parades galore by booking hotel rooms early so you can enjoy the full menu of events for this year’s Mardi Gras.
There will be 10 parade processions with hundreds of krewe members in elaborate costumes, including the Bards of Bohemia, a Krewe from New Orleans that will be making their debut in Galveston. Three stages in Historic Downtown Galveston provide a perfect venue for more than 25 bands.
Headlining the musical event will be New Orleans’ own jazz icon Dr. John as well as Roger Creager and Blues Traveler. Mardi Gras Galveston also features art exhibits that include the work of hundreds of regionally and nationally-known artists as well as a 5K race and other sporting events and the traditionally elaborate masquerade balls. There’s something for everyone of all ages – so come on down to Galveston and let the good times roll!
