Overview
The Children’s Museum of Houston will provide kids and families the opportunity to explore holidays celebrated throughout the world – all under one roof – when Seasons of Sharing begins.
Seasons of Sharing, Houston’s only multicultural holiday exhibit spotlighting seven cultural celebrations, will represent Diwali, Ramadan, Hanukkah, Las Posadas, Christmas, Kwanzaa and the Lunar New Year.
At the Museum, kids will experience a block-long neighborhood of houses where dipa lamps, menorahs, luminarias, Christmas lights, kinaras and the glimmer of the crescent moon will all shimmer brightly, lighting the way of the holiday season.
The houses’ facades representing the various holidays show children how these
celebrations, observed annually in the Houston area and around the world, are
experienced in the home. Each week, a different cultural holiday will be
highlighted and kids will learn about the culture through hands-on activities
and games, such as making crescent moon decorations for Ramadan and molding clay
dipa lamps to celebrate Diwali.
There will be special workshops focusing on each of the holidays or cultural celebrations like Las Posadas, Hanukkah and Christmas.
